Limitations
The process is limited to non-ferrous metals with pouring
temperatures below 2,000 degrees F. This includes all
aluminum, zinc casting alloys, and some copper based alloys.
Holes
Not economical to cast small holes .375 or less unless odd
shape or inaccessible areas for machining.
Alloys
All aluminum and zinc casting alloys to the commercial and
military specifications. See separate technical sheet.
Mechanical Properties
Tensile-Yield-Elongation - as per the appropriate commercial
and military specifications. See separate technical sheet.

Master Model & Casting Tooling Equipment
A) Master Model:
• Stereolithography
Used for paperless manufacturing. Needs additional tolerance
due to resin material.
• Print Production
Cast acrylic material, hand machined and CNC machined.
Tighter tolerance can be obtained. Usually results in longer
lead times.
• Customer Furnished Model
Acu-Cast will clone your design in aluminum or zinc.
B) Casting Tooling
• Rubber Negative
Used on low volume parts (250 or less)
• Plastic Epoxy Negative
Used for high volumes with unlimited shelf life
C) Silicone Rubber Positives
Draft
Typically .5 degrees to 2 degrees. Zero draft is possible in
specified areas. Corner radii and fillets as required.
Cost
Rule of thumb for complex shapes in 15" cube.
Range: Tooling - 10% of die cast tools.
Piece Price: 10 times die casting price.
Delivery
2-4 weeks for simple parts
6-8 weeks for complex parts
Typical Applications
Castings for business machines, medical equipment,
computers, automotive, aerospace, electronics, and engineering. |
